Students finally selected for admission may defer for one semester after paying the admission fee, subject to meeting the academic eligibility for the programme applied for.

• A student who has not fulfilled the academic criteria will have their admission cancelled.
• Students may defer their semester in special cases defined by the University, after depositing the requisite fee, and may join in the next semester without an admission test — provided they clear their previous degree and meet the University's basic eligibility criteria within the same academic year.
• Fee deposited by such students will be readjusted in the forthcoming semester.
• The student must provide surety on an affidavit that, in case of failure to complete HSSC, a Bachelor programme or any other prerequisite qualification, they will accept the University's decision.

If the University cancels an admission after selection, the reasons will be given to the applicant in writing.

The candidature of a student who left the University and drew their security deposit without completing the degree will be cancelled. Such students may only rejoin the same programme after approval from the Dean of Faculty and re-depositing the admission fee, and will then be governed by the rules of their original entry.

Students previously dropped from an INU programme for academic reasons will not be permitted to rejoin that programme. Students expelled for disciplinary reasons will not be allowed to rejoin the University. The Vice Chancellor is competent to decide on the recommendation of the Dean of Faculty.

Existing students may change discipline subject to meeting the basic eligibility criteria of that discipline. Apply when admissions in that discipline are open, paying Rs. 500 as processing fee. The entry test is exempted when moving to a lower-merit discipline. Common courses with grade C or above may be exempted. Admission fee and caution money already deposited will be adjusted into the new discipline on confirmation.

• A student may freeze before the start of the session if they passed the previous semester with the minimum GPA/CGPA required to remain enrolled. The tuition fee must still be deposited prior to the request, and will be adjusted in the next semester.
• A student may freeze at any time up to three weeks before final examinations. Fees in this case are not refunded or readjusted, and must be paid afresh on rejoining.
• Students must resume in the following semester, or their name will be struck off the University roll.
• No more than two semesters may be frozen in one degree programme.
• Fresh students may not freeze without paying the admission fee and submitting complete documents.
• Freezing is permitted in special cases such as life-threatening illness, marriage or maternity.

Students cannot register for certain courses until they have attended the prerequisite classes as per the attendance policy and appeared in the mid-semester and final examinations, even if declared Fail. A student registering without meeting prerequisites will be denied credit for that course, and it will not appear on the transcript until the prerequisite is passed.

• Students who register for a module but do not attend and fail to pay within the due date will be fined Rs. 5,000 per module.
• Students who register and attend but do not pay by the midterm examinations will be fined Rs. 5,000, in addition to the standard late fine of Rs. 200 per day after the due date.
• Students who attend without paying even after the midterm will not be allowed to sit the final examination and will be declared Fail in that module, and must re-register with a junior batch.
